You can fly in 30mins from Jandekot and pick up a hire car in either Busselton or Margaret River as Yelverton Brook is midway.

Another mind blowing idea is private limo service from Perth to Yelverton Brook by a Holden Statesman $300 each way or Ford Ltd Stretch is $440 each way.

Go for luxury

Ask about views when selecting and booking the place to stay – central location is vital to explore the local area. A large spa is very preferable. Yelverton Brook offers you large private 6 person sized "spas under the stars".

Book as far in advance as possible. Usually, in quieter periods of the year (off-peak), you might only need to book a few days in advance.

Flowers

Order either a small or large bunch of local proteas from Yelverton Brook and they will be delivered to your door, local Florists from Busselton, Dunsborough or Margaret River. Couriers will deliver but not usually on Saturdays.

Planning things to do

Use the retreat as a base to explore the area but don’t try and cram too much in. And don’t go off fishing or to the TAB. Find out about things to do together – something different such as a horse-riding, diving, silk painting workshop, day spa treatments in the privacy of your chalet or sailing lesson. Tag-a-long 4x4 tours, abseiling the Willy cliffs, adventure caving or lazing around together at your private chalet and make friends with the local wildlife.....

Go on a picnic together, order one from Yelverton Brook and visit Ellensbrook Historic Homestead is very nice, close to the beach and a great lawned area & run by the National Trust a small entry fee is payable, take the walktrail up to the source of the spring.

Dining in & out

An essential and enjoyable activity, and one that requires thought. A good choice here can make the weekend a truly memorable one.

Request an Arrival Platter for your first evening with champagne, flowers & chocolates, maybe consider adding satin sheets, continental breakfasts and now you have the “ Romantic Package ” for 2 for 2 nights.

A private In house chef service is offered with all the washing up done you only need to supply the wine. Another unquie idea is to add the glamour of antique china, crystalware & Italian silverware, if she falls in love with it it can even be purchased…….

When you arrive at your private spa chalet in the compendiums there is a section on “Menus” from around the region to help choose a venue you will both enjoy together. Quality food and a great atmosphere are suitable for couples. Ask the owners if they recommend one or two, ask why they like these particular places to see if they fit.

If you are confident in the recommendations received, then make a reservation for your first night. Ask the person who answers the phone where the best tables are located. Book one of the best tables and ask for the table number to make sure they write your name beside it. Outside is preferred depending on the weather. Outside heating is usually offered in winter. Inside is OK if you are near a window and there is a view.

Remember - this is for her so think subtle, low lighting and atmosphere.

Although you run the risk of not getting a table, sometimes it’s best to walk through the café and restaurant strips in the early evening and pick something that looks nice and fits what you want. No later than 6.30pm in summer, and 6.00 pm in winter.

Alot of local wineries only cater for lunch and some for Saturday evenings, ring and check ahead. Telephone numbers in the chalet compendiums under the "Menu" section.

If you see a place to dine and can’t get a table, book for your second night. If you arrive early at the town, take the opportunity to look around while out browsing the shops with your partner.

Another thing you can do is check the resort’s guest information folder for ideas. And as a final tip – don’t eat too much.

Special treats and atmosphere

Buy and/or pack the following before you leave for your destination:

Quality chocolates
Champagne glasses
Massage oil
Candles (and lighter)
Chocolate Fondue Set, you could go and buy the chocolate from the Margaret River Chocolate Factory!

Also, and most importantly, buy some perfume and have it gift wrapped at the counter. 50 mls will do. Some of the picks are:

Ask if they gift wrap or ask Yelverton Brook to stock some in the refridgerator ready for when you arrive....from $12 per bottle or on special request a locally produced Margaret River Sparkling Wine around $30 per bottle.
