2008 Respect
Yourself
Forest
Rally
More than 9000 spectators turned out to view
the excitement of last year's Respect Yourself Forest Rally Busselton Toyota
Super Stage, and organisers are expecting increased interest again in 2005.
The Busselton Toyota Super Stage is the opening round of the Globalstar
Australian Rally and Western Australian Rally Championships and attracts more
than 60 cars and 600 competitors and crew from across the country. The 1.4km
course will take the rally cars through the streets of Busselton and along the
shores of Geographe Bay in a nail biting race against the clock on Friday and
Saturday evenings.
Australia's best rally drivers will be coming to the
southwest over the weekend. These include Toyota drivers Neil and Rick Bates,
leading Subaru pair of Cody Crocker and WA's Dean Herridge, Mitsubishi legend Ed
Ordynski and young gun Spence Lowndes, and leading privateers Simon Evans and
the Pedder brothers Scott and Mark.
2005 will see the event adopt an even
more exciting format, lighting up the streets of Busselton with a two night
rally Super Stage, a Wheels Expo including car displays, workshops and races,
interactive action alley, half pipe skateboarding competitions, drag races,
fireworks and live bands. On Saturday afternoon a Sprint Series for sport and
street cars will also be held on the Super Stage in Busselton.
On Saturday
and Sunday the rally heads to Nannup where the best rally drivers in Australia
show their skills on the gravel roads of the Nannup forest. There are plenty of
spectator points to catch all the dirt flying action. The main street of Nannup
turns into a Service Park and is an ideal place to get up close to the cars and
drivers as they get ready to head out into the forest again.
Venue:
Friday and Saturday evenings - Busselton Super Stage, Barnard Park,
Busselton.
Rally Action: Saturday and Sunday - Nannup pine
plantations.
